Metagross 50/98 · Ancient Origins

Ancient Origins is a set in the XY series. It was released on August 12, 2015. The printed size is 98. This checklist is longer, at 101 cards. Metagross is 50/98, in position 50 of 101 on this checklist. Before it is 49 Metagross, and after it is 51 Registeel. The listed rarity is Rare.

Metagross is a Stage 2 Metal Pokémon with 150 HP. In the Pokédex this is Metagross (#376), generation 3 (Hoenn). The card says it evolves from Metang. In this catalog that name is Metang (#375).

Hitoshi Ariga illustrated this card. The same name is on 155 other cards in the catalog.

Metagross (#376) has 33 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 23 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2004 to 2026. The earliest other card is Metagross 11/101 in Hidden Legends (2004). That card lists 100 HP, and this one lists 150 HP. The rarity there is Rare Holo, and here it is Rare. Kouki Saitou illustrated that card, and Hitoshi Ariga illustrated this one. Retreat cost there is 2, and here it is 4. 30 other cards of Metagross list a different HP.

The attack Machine Gun Stomp lists 20+ damage. The cost is Colorless, Colorless. This attack does 10 more damage for each card in your hand. Guard Press is another attack lists 80 damage. The cost is Metal, Metal, Colorless, Colorless. During your opponent's next turn, any damage done to this Pokémon by attacks is reduced by 20 (after applying Weakness and Resistance). Weakness is Fire ×2. Resistance is Psychic -20. Retreat cost is 4. θ Double is the ancient trait on this card. This Pokémon may have up to 2 Pokémon Tool cards attached to it. The flavor text reads "Metang combined to form it. With four brains, it has the intelligence of a supercomputer."

I keep a set binder for Ancient Origins, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the Ancient Origins set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Metagross can fill a slot in Generation 3 binder (Hoenn). I still need this card.
