M Sceptile-EX 8/98 · Ancient Origins

Sceptile is Pokédex #254, generation 3 (Hoenn). M Sceptile-EX is a MEGA EX Grass Pokémon with 220 HP. The card says it evolves from Sceptile-EX. In this catalog that name is Sceptile (#254).

M Sceptile-EX sits at 8/98 in Ancient Origins, position 8 of 101. Before it is 7 Sceptile-EX, and after it is 9 Combee. The set belongs to the XY series. It was released on August 12, 2015. The printed size is 98. This checklist is longer, at 101 cards. The listed rarity is Rare Holo EX.

The attack Jagged Saber lists 100 damage. The cost is Grass, Colorless. You may attach up to 2 Grass Energy cards from your hand to your Benched Pokémon in any way you like. If you attached Energy to a Pokémon in this way, heal all damage from that Pokémon. Weakness is Fire ×2. Retreat cost is 2. The card text says: Mega Evolution rule: When 1 of your Pokémon becomes a Mega Evolution Pokémon, your turn ends. The card text says: Pokémon-EX rule: When a Pokémon-EX has been Knocked Out, your opponent takes 2 Prize cards. θ Stop is the ancient trait on this card. Prevent all effects of your opponent's Pokémon's Abilities done to this Pokémon.

Sceptile (#254) has 23 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 15 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2003 to 2018. The earliest other card is Sceptile 11/109 in Ruby & Sapphire (2003). That card is named Sceptile, while this one is M Sceptile-EX. That card lists 120 HP, and this one lists 220 HP. The rarity there is Rare Holo, and here it is Rare Holo EX. Midori Harada illustrated that card, and 5ban Graphics illustrated this one. Retreat cost there is 3, and here it is 2. 22 other cards of Sceptile list a different HP.

The illustrator line reads 5ban Graphics. I count 1,629 other cards in the catalog with that illustrator.

Ancient Origins set binder is where a full Ancient Origins set goes. This card fills one slot there. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Sceptile can fill a slot in Generation 3 binder (Hoenn). Themed lists that include this exact card are Hoenn starters. I still need this card.
