Tyranitar XY130/211 · XY Black Star Promos

Tyranitar is Pokédex #248, generation 2 (Johto). Tyranitar is a Stage 2 Darkness Pokémon with 160 HP. The card says it evolves from Pupitar. In this catalog that name is Pupitar (#247).

Tyranitar sits at XY130/211 in XY Black Star Promos, position 131 of 216. Before it is XY129 Zygarde, and after it is XY131 Pansear. The set belongs to the XY series. It was released on October 12, 2013. The printed size is 211. This checklist is longer, at 216 cards. The listed rarity is Promo.

Raging Roar is listed as Ability. When you play this Pokémon from your hand to evolve 1 of your Pokémon, you may attach 1 Darkness Energy from your discard pile to this Pokémon for each Prize card your opponent has taken. The attack Dark Mountain lists 150+ damage. The cost is Darkness, Darkness, Darkness, Darkness, Darkness. Discard the top 2 cards of your deck. This attack does 50 more damage for each Supporter card discard in this way. Weakness is Fighting ×2. Resistance is Psychic -20. Retreat cost is 4. The flavor text reads "If it rampages, it knocks down mountains and buries rivers. Maps must be redrawn afterward."

Tyranitar (#248) has 47 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 29 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2001 to 2026. The earliest other card is Tyranitar 12/75 in Neo Discovery (2001). That card lists 100 HP, and this one lists 160 HP. The rarity there is Rare Holo, and here it is Promo. Hironobu Yoshida illustrated that card, and Satoshi Shirai illustrated this one. Retreat cost there is 3, and here it is 4. 44 other cards of Tyranitar list a different HP.

The illustrator line reads Satoshi Shirai. I count 50 other cards in the catalog with that illustrator.

XY Black Star Promos set binder is where a full XY Black Star Promos set goes. This card fills one slot there. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Tyranitar can fill a slot in Generation 2 binder (Johto). I still need this card.
