Shiftry 72/99 · Next Destinies

Shiftry is Pokédex #275, generation 3 (Hoenn). Shiftry is a Stage 2 Darkness Pokémon with 130 HP. The card says it evolves from Nuzleaf. In this catalog that name is Nuzleaf (#274).

Shiftry sits at 72/99 in Next Destinies, position 72 of 103. Before it is 71 Nuzleaf, and after it is 73 Scraggy. The set belongs to the Black & White series. It was released on 8 February 2012. The printed size is 99. This checklist is longer, at 103 cards. The listed rarity is Rare.

Giant Fan is listed as Ability. When you play this Pokémon from your hand to evolve 1 of your Pokémon, you may flip a coin. If heads, choose 1 of your opponent's Pokémon. Your opponent shuffles that Pokémon and all cards attached to it into his or her deck. The attack Whirlwind lists 60 damage. The cost is Darkness, Darkness, Colorless. Your opponent switches the Defending Pokémon with 1 of his or her Benched Pokémon. Weakness is Fighting ×2. Resistance is Psychic -20. Retreat cost is 1. The flavor text reads "By flapping its leafy fan, it can whip up gusts of 100 ft/second that can level houses."

Shiftry (#275) has 22 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 18 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2003 to 2025. The earliest other card is Shiftry 12/100 in Sandstorm (2003). That card lists 120 HP, and this one lists 130 HP. The rarity there is Rare Holo, and here it is Rare. Atsuko Nishida illustrated that card, and match illustrated this one. Retreat cost there is 2, and here it is 1. 21 other cards of Shiftry list a different HP.

The illustrator line reads match. I count 143 other cards in the catalog with that illustrator.

Next Destinies set binder is where a full Next Destinies set goes. This card fills one slot there. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Shiftry can fill a slot in Generation 3 binder (Hoenn). I still need this card.
