Wormadam Sandy Cloak 50/99 · Arceus

Arceus is a set in the Platinum series. It was released on 4 November 2009. The printed size is 99. This checklist is longer, at 111 cards. Wormadam Sandy Cloak is 50/99, in position 50 of 111 on this checklist. Before it is 49 Wormadam Plant Cloak, and after it is 51 Wormadam Trash Cloak. The listed rarity is Uncommon.

Wormadam Sandy Cloak is a Stage 1 Fighting Pokémon with 90 HP. The card lists level 45. In the Pokédex this is Wormadam (#413), generation 4 (Sinnoh). The card says it evolves from Burmy Sandy Cloak. In this catalog that name is Burmy (#412).

Atsuko Nishida illustrated this card. The same name is on 408 other cards in the catalog.

Wormadam (#413) has 12 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 5 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2007 to 2022. The earliest other card is Wormadam Plant Cloak 41/132 in Secret Wonders (2007). That card is named Wormadam Plant Cloak, while this one is Wormadam Sandy Cloak. That card lists 80 HP, and this one lists 90 HP. The rarity there is Rare, and here it is Uncommon. Mitsuhiro Arita illustrated that card, and Atsuko Nishida illustrated this one. 11 other cards of Wormadam list a different HP.

The attack Hang Down lists 30 damage. The cost is Fighting. Cloak Headbutt is another attack lists 60+ damage. The cost is Fighting, Colorless, Colorless. If you have Wormadam Trash Cloak in play, this attack does 60 damage plus 30 more damage. Weakness is Fire +20. Resistance is Lightning -20. Retreat cost is 1. The flavor text reads "When evolving, its body takes in surrounding materials. As a result, there are many body variations."

I keep a set binder for Arceus, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the Arceus set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Wormadam can fill a slot in Generation 4 binder (Sinnoh). Themed lists that include this exact card are Atsuko Nishida cards, early series. I still need this card.
