Feraligatr 89/102 · Scarlet & Violet Black Star Promos

Feraligatr is Pokédex #160, generation 2 (Johto). Feraligatr is a Stage 2 Water Pokémon with 180 HP. The card says it evolves from Croconaw. In this catalog that name is Croconaw (#159).

Feraligatr sits at 89/102 in Scarlet & Violet Black Star Promos, position 89 of 165. Before it is 88 Pikachu, and after it is 90 Metang. The set belongs to the Scarlet & Violet series. It was released on 1 January 2023. The printed size is 102. This checklist is longer, at 165 cards. The listed rarity is Promo.

Torrential Heart is listed as Ability. Once during your turn, you may put 5 damage counters on this Pokémon. If you do, during this turn, attacks used by this Pokémon do 120 more damage to your opponent's Active Pokémon (before applying Weakness and Resistance). The attack Giant Wave lists 160 damage. The cost is Water, Water. During your next turn, this Pokémon can't use Giant Wave. Weakness is Lightning ×2. Retreat cost is 3. The flavor text reads "It usually moves slowly, but it goes at blinding speed when it attacks and bites prey." The regulation mark is H.

Feraligatr (#160) has 21 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 15 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2000 to 2026. The earliest other card is Feraligatr 4/111 in Neo Genesis (2000). That card lists 100 HP, and this one lists 180 HP. The rarity there is Rare Holo, and here it is Promo. Ken Sugimori illustrated that card, and Kurata So illustrated this one. 20 other cards of Feraligatr list a different HP.

The illustrator line reads Kurata So. I count 22 other cards in the catalog with that illustrator.

Scarlet & Violet Black Star Promos set binder is where a full Scarlet & Violet Black Star Promos set goes. This card fills one slot there. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Feraligatr can fill a slot in Generation 2 binder (Johto). Themed lists that include this exact card are Johto starters. I still need this card.
