Shiftry 7/106 · Flashfire

Shiftry is Pokédex #275, generation 3 (Hoenn). Shiftry is a Stage 2 Grass Pokémon with 140 HP. The card says it evolves from Nuzleaf. In this catalog that name is Nuzleaf (#274).

Shiftry sits at 7/106 in Flashfire, position 7 of 110. Before it is 6 Nuzleaf, and after it is 8 Roselia. The set belongs to the XY series. It was released on 7 May 2014. The printed size is 106. This checklist is longer, at 110 cards. The listed rarity is Rare Holo.

Leaf Draw is listed as Ability. Once during your turn (before your attack), you may discard a Grass Energy card from your hand. If you do, draw 3 cards. The attack Deranged Dance lists 20× damage. The cost is Grass, Colorless, Colorless. This attack does 20 damage times the number of Benched Pokémon (both yours and your opponent's). Weakness is Fire ×2. Retreat cost is 2. The flavor text reads "A Pokémon that was feared as a forest guardian. It can read the foe's mind and take preemptive action."

Shiftry (#275) has 22 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 18 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2003 to 2025. The earliest other card is Shiftry 12/100 in Sandstorm (2003). That card lists 120 HP, and this one lists 140 HP. Both list the rarity Rare Holo. Atsuko Nishida illustrated that card, and Kouki Saitou illustrated this one. 17 other cards of Shiftry list a different HP.

The illustrator line reads Kouki Saitou. I count 652 other cards in the catalog with that illustrator.

Flashfire set binder is where a full Flashfire set goes. This card fills one slot there. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Shiftry can fill a slot in Generation 3 binder (Hoenn). I still need this card.
