Beartic 30/98 · Emerging Powers

Beartic is Pokédex #614, generation 5 (Unova). Beartic is a Stage 1 Water Pokémon with 130 HP. The card says it evolves from Cubchoo. In this catalog that name is Cubchoo (#613).

Beartic sits at 30/98 in Emerging Powers, position 30 of 98. Before it is 29 Cubchoo, and after it is 31 Beartic. The set belongs to the Black & White series. It was released on August 31, 2011. The printed size is 98, and the checklist is the same length. The listed rarity is Rare Holo.

The attack Sheer Cold lists 50 damage. The cost is Water, Colorless, Colorless. The Defending Pokémon can't attack during your opponent's next turn. Icicle Crash is another attack lists 80 damage. The cost is Water, Water, Colorless, Colorless. This attack's damage isn't affected by Resistance. Weakness is Metal ×2. Retreat cost is 3. The flavor text reads "It can make its breath freeze at will. Very able in the water, it swims around in northern seas and catches prey."

Beartic (#614) has 10 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 9 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2011 to 2025. The earliest other card is Beartic 31/98 in Emerging Powers (2011). Both list 130 HP. The rarity there is Rare, and here it is Rare Holo. Kagemaru Himeno illustrated that card, and Kouki Saitou illustrated this one. Retreat cost there is 2, and here it is 3. 7 other cards of Beartic list a different HP.

The illustrator line reads Kouki Saitou. I count 652 other cards in the catalog with that illustrator.

Emerging Powers set binder is where a full Emerging Powers set goes. This card fills one slot there. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Beartic can fill a slot in Generation 5 binder (Unova). I still need this card.
