Emboar 26/149 · Boundaries Crossed

Emboar is Pokédex #500, generation 5 (Unova). Emboar is a Stage 2 Fire Pokémon with 150 HP. The card says it evolves from Pignite. In this catalog that name is Pignite (#499).

Emboar sits at 26/149 in Boundaries Crossed, position 26 of 153. Before it is 25 Pignite, and after it is 27 Darumaka. The set belongs to the Black & White series. It was released on November 7, 2012. The printed size is 149. This checklist is longer, at 153 cards. The listed rarity is Rare Holo.

The attack Firebreathing lists 40+ damage. The cost is Fire, Colorless, Colorless. Flip a coin. If heads, this attack does 30 more damage. Fire Blast is another attack lists 120 damage. The cost is Fire, Fire, Colorless, Colorless. Discard an Energy attached to this Pokémon. Weakness is Water ×2. Retreat cost is 4. The flavor text reads "It has mastered fast and powerful fighting moves. It grows a beard of fire."

Emboar (#500) has 12 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 9 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2011 to 2026. The earliest other card is Emboar BW21/101 in BW Black Star Promos (2011). Both list 150 HP. The rarity there is Promo, and here it is Rare Holo. 5ban Graphics illustrated that card, and Shin Nagasawa illustrated this one. 7 other cards of Emboar list a different HP.

The illustrator line reads Shin Nagasawa. I count 303 other cards in the catalog with that illustrator.

Boundaries Crossed set binder is where a full Boundaries Crossed set goes. This card fills one slot there. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Emboar can fill a slot in Generation 5 binder (Unova). I still need this card.
