Altaria BW48/101 · BW Black Star Promos

Altaria is Pokédex #334, generation 3 (Hoenn). Altaria is a Stage 1 Dragon Pokémon with 70 HP. The card says it evolves from Swablu. In this catalog that name is Swablu (#333).

Altaria sits at BW48/101 in BW Black Star Promos, position 48 of 101. Before it is BW47 Rayquaza-EX, and after it is BW49 Lilligant. The set belongs to the Black & White series. It was released on March 1, 2011. The printed size is 101, and the checklist is the same length. The listed rarity is Promo.

Fight Song is listed as Ability. Your Dragon Pokémon's attacks do 20 more damage to the Active Pokémon (before applying Weakness and Resistance). The attack Glide lists 40 damage. The cost is Water, Metal, Colorless. Weakness is Dragon ×2. Retreat cost is 1. The flavor text reads "If it bonds with a person, it will gently envelop the friend with its soft wings, then hum."

Altaria (#334) has 38 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 27 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2003 to 2024. The earliest other card is Altaria 2/97 in Dragon (2003). That card lists 80 HP, and this one lists 70 HP. The rarity there is Rare Holo, and here it is Promo. Atsuko Nishida illustrated that card, and HiRON illustrated this one. 35 other cards of Altaria list a different HP.

The illustrator line reads HiRON. I count 12 other cards in the catalog with that illustrator.

BW Black Star Promos set binder is where a full BW Black Star Promos set goes. This card fills one slot there. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Altaria can fill a slot in Generation 3 binder (Hoenn). I still need this card.
