Carnivine 21/130 · Diamond & Pearl

Carnivine is Pokédex #455, generation 4 (Sinnoh). Carnivine is a Basic Grass Pokémon with 70 HP. The card lists level 32.

Carnivine sits at 21/130 in Diamond & Pearl, position 21 of 130. Before it is 20 Bibarel, and after it is 22 Clefable. The set belongs to the Diamond & Pearl series. It was released on May 1, 2007. The printed size is 130, and the checklist is the same length. The listed rarity is Rare.

The attack Swallow Up lists 30 damage. The cost is Grass, Colorless. Before doing damage, count the remaining HP of the Defending Pokémon and Carnivine. If the Defending Pokémon has fewer remaining HP than Carnivine's, this attack does 60 damage instead. Wring Out is another attack lists 20 damage. The cost is Grass, Grass. Flip a coin. If heads, the Defending Pokémon is now Paralyzed and discard an Energy card attached to the Defending Pokémon. Weakness is Fire +20. Resistance is Water -20. Retreat cost is 1. The flavor text reads "It attracts prey with its sweet-smelling saliva, then chomps down. It takes a whole day to eat prey."

Carnivine (#455) has 16 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 15 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2007 to 2026. The earliest other card is Carnivine G DP42/56 in DP Black Star Promos (2007). That card is named Carnivine G, while this one is Carnivine. That card lists 80 HP, and this one lists 70 HP. The rarity there is Promo, and here it is Rare. Makoto Imai illustrated that card, and Kouki Saitou illustrated this one. 15 other cards of Carnivine list a different HP.

The illustrator line reads Kouki Saitou. I count 652 other cards in the catalog with that illustrator.

Diamond & Pearl set binder is where a full Diamond & Pearl set goes. This card fills one slot there. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Carnivine can fill a slot in Generation 4 binder (Sinnoh). I still need this card.
