Magby 88/123 · Mysterious Treasures

Magby is Pokédex #240, generation 2 (Johto). Magby is a Basic Fire Pokémon with 40 HP. The card lists level 5. The card lists Magmar, Magmar (#126) under evolves to.

Magby sits at 88/123 in Mysterious Treasures, position 88 of 124. Before it is 87 Larvitar, and after it is 89 Magikarp. The set belongs to the Diamond & Pearl series. It was released on August 1, 2007. The printed size is 123. This checklist is longer, at 124 cards. The listed rarity is Common.

Baby Evolution is listed as Poké-Power. Once during your turn (before your attack), you may put Magmar from your hand onto Magby (this counts as evolving Magby) and remove all damage counters from Magby. The attack Scorch lists no damage number. Flip a coin. If heads, the Defending Pokémon is now Burned. Weakness is Water +10. Retreat cost is 1. The flavor text reads "Its body temperature is around 1,100 degrees F. It is healthy if it is breathing yellow flames."

Magby (#240) has 9 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 7 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2000 to 2023. The earliest other card is Magby 23/111 in Neo Genesis (2000). That card lists 30 HP, and this one lists 40 HP. The rarity there is Rare, and here it is Common. Ken Sugimori illustrated that card, and Midori Harada illustrated this one. 8 other cards of Magby list a different HP.

The illustrator line reads Midori Harada. I count 352 other cards in the catalog with that illustrator.

Mysterious Treasures set binder is where a full Mysterious Treasures set goes. This card fills one slot there. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Magby can fill a slot in Generation 2 binder (Johto). Themed lists that include this exact card are Baby Pokémon. I still need this card.
