Magby 24/109 · Team Rocket Returns

Magby is Pokédex #240, generation 2 (Johto). Magby is a Basic Fire Pokémon with 50 HP. The card lists Magmar, Magmar (#126) under evolves to.

Magby sits at 24/109 in Team Rocket Returns, position 24 of 111. Before it is 23 Ledian, and after it is 25 Misdreavus. The set belongs to the EX series. It was released on November 1, 2004. The printed size is 109. This checklist is longer, at 111 cards. The listed rarity is Rare.

Baby Evolution is listed as Poké-Power. Once during your turn (before your attack), you may put Magmar from your hand onto Magby (this counts as evolving Magby), and remove all damage counters from Magby. The attack Detour lists no damage number. The cost is Colorless. If you have a Supporter card in play, use the effect on that card as the effect of this attack. Weakness is Water ×2. Retreat cost is 1.

Magby (#240) has 9 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 7 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2000 to 2023. The earliest other card is Magby 23/111 in Neo Genesis (2000). That card lists 30 HP, and this one lists 50 HP. Both list the rarity Rare. Ken Sugimori illustrated that card, and Yukiko Baba illustrated this one. 9 other cards of Magby list a different HP.

The illustrator line reads Yukiko Baba. I count 151 other cards in the catalog with that illustrator.

Team Rocket Returns set binder is where a full Team Rocket Returns set goes. This card fills one slot there. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Magby can fill a slot in Generation 2 binder (Johto). Themed lists that include this exact card are Baby Pokémon. I still need this card.
