Magby 58/92 · Legend Maker

Legend Maker is a set in the EX series. It was released on February 1, 2006. The printed size is 92. This checklist is longer, at 93 cards. Magby is 58/92, in position 58 of 93 on this checklist. Before it is 57 Machop, and after it is 59 Magnemite. The listed rarity is Common.

Magby is a Basic Fire Pokémon with 40 HP. In the Pokédex this is Magby (#240), generation 2 (Johto). The card lists Magmar, Magmar (#126) under evolves to.

Yuka Morii illustrated this card. The same name is on 204 other cards in the catalog.

Magby (#240) has 9 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 7 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2000 to 2023. The earliest other card is Magby 23/111 in Neo Genesis (2000). That card lists 30 HP, and this one lists 40 HP. The rarity there is Rare, and here it is Common. Ken Sugimori illustrated that card, and Yuka Morii illustrated this one. 8 other cards of Magby list a different HP.

Baby Evolution is listed as Poké-Power. Once during your turn (before your attack), you may put Magmar from your hand onto Magby (this counts as evolving Magby) and remove all damage counters from Magby. The attack Ignite lists 10 damage. The cost is Colorless. If Full Flame is in play, the Defending Pokémon is now Burned. Weakness is Water ×2. Retreat cost is 1.

I keep a set binder for Legend Maker, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the Legend Maker set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Magby can fill a slot in Generation 2 binder (Johto). Themed lists that include this exact card are Yuka Morii clay cards and Baby Pokémon. I still need this card.
