Donphan 17/109 · Ruby & Sapphire

Donphan is Pokédex #232, generation 2 (Johto). Donphan is a Stage 1 Fighting Pokémon with 80 HP. The card says it evolves from Phanpy. In this catalog that name is Phanpy (#231).

Donphan sits at 17/109 in Ruby & Sapphire, position 17 of 109. Before it is 16 Breloom, and after it is 18 Nosepass. The set belongs to the EX series. It was released on July 1, 2003. The printed size is 109, and the checklist is the same length. The listed rarity is Rare.

The attack Rend lists 20+ damage. The cost is Fighting, Colorless. If the Defending Pokémon has any damage counters on it, this attack does 20 damage plus 20 more damage. Double Spin is another attack lists 60× damage. The cost is Fighting, Colorless, Colorless, Colorless. Flip 2 coins. This attack does 60 damage times the number of heads. Weakness is Grass ×2. Retreat cost is 1.

Donphan (#232) has 20 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 19 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2000 to 2026. The earliest other card is Donphan 21/111 in Neo Genesis (2000). That card lists 70 HP, and this one lists 80 HP. Both list the rarity Rare. Ken Sugimori illustrated that card, and Kagemaru Himeno illustrated this one. Retreat cost there is 3, and here it is 1. 16 other cards of Donphan list a different HP.

The illustrator line reads Kagemaru Himeno. I count 656 other cards in the catalog with that illustrator.

Ruby & Sapphire set binder is where a full Ruby & Sapphire set goes. This card fills one slot there. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Donphan can fill a slot in Generation 2 binder (Johto). I still need this card.
