Banette 1/101 · Hidden Legends

Hidden Legends is a set in the EX series. It was released on June 1, 2004. The printed size is 101. This checklist is longer, at 102 cards. Banette is 1/101, in position 1 of 102 on this checklist. The next card is 2 Claydol. The listed rarity is Rare Holo.

Banette is a Stage 1 Psychic Pokémon with 70 HP. In the Pokédex this is Banette (#354), generation 3 (Hoenn). The card says it evolves from Shuppet. In this catalog that name is Shuppet (#353).

Midori Harada illustrated this card. The same name is on 352 other cards in the catalog.

Banette (#354) has 23 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 17 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2006 to 2026. The earliest other card is Banette ex 85/92 in Legend Maker (2006). That card is named Banette ex, while this one is Banette. That card lists 90 HP, and this one lists 70 HP. The rarity there is Rare Holo EX, and here it is Rare Holo. Mitsuhiro Arita illustrated that card, and Midori Harada illustrated this one. 21 other cards of Banette list a different HP.

The attack Shadow Steal lists 10+ damage. The cost is Psychic. Does 10 damage plus 20 more damage for each Special Energy card in your opponent's discard pile. Darkness Chant is another attack lists no damage number. The cost is Psychic, Colorless. Count the number of Basic Pokémon or Evolution cards in your discard pile. Put that many damage counters on the Defending Pokémon. You can't put more than 6 damage counters on the Defending Pokémon in this way. Weakness is Darkness ×2. Resistance is Fighting -30. Retreat cost is 1.

I keep a set binder for Hidden Legends, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the Hidden Legends set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Banette can fill a slot in Generation 3 binder (Hoenn). I still need this card.
