Chi-Yu 59/84 · Pitch Black

Pitch Black is a set in the Mega Evolution series. It was released on July 17, 2026. The printed size is 84. This checklist is longer, at 120 cards. Chi-Yu is 59/84, in position 59 of 120 on this checklist. Before it is 58 Mabosstiff, and after it is 60 Skarmory. The listed rarity is Rare.

Chi-Yu is a Basic Darkness Pokémon with 90 HP. In the Pokédex this is Chi-Yu (#1004), generation 9 (Paldea).

IKEDA Saki illustrated this card. The same name is on 6 other cards in the catalog.

Chi-Yu (#1004) has 8 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 6 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2023 to 2025. The earliest other card is Chi-Yu 57/102 in Scarlet & Violet Black Star Promos (2023). That card lists 110 HP, and this one lists 90 HP. The rarity there is Promo, and here it is Rare. Dsuke illustrated that card, and IKEDA Saki illustrated this one. The regulation mark there is G, and here it is J. 8 other cards of Chi-Yu list a different HP.

The attack Whirling Envy lists 20+ damage. The cost is Darkness. If this Pokémon has 2 or more damage counters on it, this attack does 90 more damage. This attack's damage isn't affected by Weakness. Weakness is Grass ×2. Retreat cost is 1. The flavor text reads "The envy accumulated within curved beads that sparked multiple conflicts has clad itself in fire and become a Pokémon." The regulation mark is J.

I keep a set binder for Pitch Black, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the Pitch Black set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Chi-Yu can fill a slot in Generation 9 binder (Paldea). I still need this card.
