Slowking 48/147 · Burning Shadows

Burning Shadows is a set in the Sun & Moon series. It was released on August 5, 2017. The printed size is 147. This checklist is longer, at 177 cards. Slowking is 48/147, in position 50 of 177 on this checklist. Before it is 47 Togedemaru, and after it is 49 Wobbuffet. The listed rarity is Rare.

Slowking is a Stage 1 Psychic Pokémon with 120 HP. In the Pokédex this is Slowking (#199), generation 2 (Johto). The card says it evolves from Slowpoke. In this catalog that name is Slowpoke (#079).

Eri Yamaki illustrated this card. The same name is on 39 other cards in the catalog.

Slowking (#199) has 25 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 18 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2000 to 2025. The earliest other card is Slowking 14/111 in Neo Genesis (2000). That card lists 80 HP, and this one lists 120 HP. The rarity there is Rare Holo, and here it is Rare. Ken Sugimori illustrated that card, and Eri Yamaki illustrated this one. Retreat cost there is 3, and here it is 2. 22 other cards of Slowking list a different HP.

The attack Drift Ashore lists no damage number. The cost is Psychic. Search your deck for a card and put it into your hand. Then, shuffle your deck. Unarmed is another attack lists 110 damage. The cost is Psychic, Psychic, Psychic. If you have no cards in your hand, ignore all Energy in this attack's cost. Weakness is Psychic ×2. Retreat cost is 2. The flavor text reads "A poisonous bite reacted with its system, blessing it with the enhanced intellect of a genius. It has full control of its psychic powers."

I keep a set binder for Burning Shadows, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the Burning Shadows set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Slowking can fill a slot in Generation 2 binder (Johto). I still need this card.
