Masquerain 16/168 · Celestial Storm

Masquerain is Pokédex #284, generation 3 (Hoenn). Masquerain is a Stage 1 Grass Pokémon with 90 HP. The card says it evolves from Surskit. In this catalog that name is Surskit (#283).

Masquerain sits at 16/168 in Celestial Storm, position 17 of 187. Before it is 15 Surskit, and after it is 17 Volbeat. The set belongs to the Sun & Moon series. It was released on August 3, 2018. The printed size is 168. This checklist is longer, at 187 cards. The listed rarity is Uncommon.

The attack Surprising Pattern lists no damage number. The cost is Grass. Discard all Special Energy from each of your opponent's Pokémon. Hurricane Wing is another attack lists 40× damage. The cost is Colorless, Colorless, Colorless. Flip 4 coins. This attack does 40 damage for each heads. Weakness is Fire ×2. Retreat cost is 1. The flavor text reads "Its wings and antennae don't cope well with moisture. After a rain, it faces sunward to dry off."

Masquerain (#284) has 12 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 12 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2004 to 2023. The earliest other card is Masquerain 20/101 in Hidden Legends (2004). That card lists 70 HP, and this one lists 90 HP. The rarity there is Rare, and here it is Uncommon. Toshinao Aoki illustrated that card, and Yukiko Baba illustrated this one. 10 other cards of Masquerain list a different HP.

The illustrator line reads Yukiko Baba. I count 151 other cards in the catalog with that illustrator.

Celestial Storm set binder is where a full Celestial Storm set goes. This card fills one slot there. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Masquerain can fill a slot in Generation 3 binder (Hoenn). I still need this card.
