Metagross 95/168 · Celestial Storm

Celestial Storm is a set in the Sun & Moon series. It was released on August 3, 2018. The printed size is 168. This checklist is longer, at 187 cards. Metagross is 95/168, in position 96 of 187 on this checklist. Before it is 94 Metang, and after it is 96 Registeel. The listed rarity is Rare Holo.

Metagross is a Stage 2 Metal Pokémon with 170 HP. In the Pokédex this is Metagross (#376), generation 3 (Hoenn). The card says it evolves from Metang. In this catalog that name is Metang (#375).

TOKIYA illustrated this card. The same name is on 93 other cards in the catalog.

Metagross (#376) has 33 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 22 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2004 to 2026. The earliest other card is Metagross 11/101 in Hidden Legends (2004). That card lists 100 HP, and this one lists 170 HP. Both list the rarity Rare Holo. Kouki Saitou illustrated that card, and TOKIYA illustrated this one. Retreat cost there is 2, and here it is 4. 30 other cards of Metagross list a different HP.

Extend is listed as Ability. As long as this Pokémon is your Active Pokémon, your turn does not end when you play Steven's Resolve. The attack Meteor Mash lists 60 damage. The cost is Metal. During your next turn, this Pokémon's Meteor Mash attack does 60 more damage (before applying Weakness and Resistance). Weakness is Fire ×2. Resistance is Psychic -20. Retreat cost is 4. The flavor text reads "A linkage of two Metang, this Pokémon can perform any calculation in a flash by utilizing parallel processing in its four brains."

I keep a set binder for Celestial Storm, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the Celestial Storm set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Metagross can fill a slot in Generation 3 binder (Hoenn). I still need this card.
