Phione SM220/248 · SM Black Star Promos

Phione is Pokédex #489, generation 4 (Sinnoh). Phione is a Basic Water Pokémon with 70 HP.

Phione sits at SM220/248 in SM Black Star Promos, position 223 of 251. Before it is SM219 Entei, and after it is SM221 Blacephalon. The set belongs to the Sun & Moon series. It was released on February 3, 2017. The printed size is 248. This checklist is longer, at 251 cards. The listed rarity is Promo.

Whirlpool Suction is listed as Ability. Once during your turn (before your attack), if this Pokémon is on your Bench, you may have your opponent switch their Active Pokémon with 1 of their Benched Pokémon. If you do, discard all cards attached to this Pokémon and put it on the bottom of your deck. The attack Rain Splash lists 10 damage. The cost is Water. Weakness is Grass ×2. Retreat cost is 1. The flavor text reads "When the water warms, they inflate the flotation sac on their heads and drift languidly on the sea in packs."

Phione (#489) has 8 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 6 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2008 to 2024. The earliest other card is Phione 12/100 in Majestic Dawn (2008). That card lists 60 HP, and this one lists 70 HP. The rarity there is Rare Holo, and here it is Promo. Daisuke Ito illustrated that card, and Kagemaru Himeno illustrated this one. 1 other cards of Phione list a different HP.

The illustrator line reads Kagemaru Himeno. I count 656 other cards in the catalog with that illustrator.

SM Black Star Promos set binder is where a full SM Black Star Promos set goes. This card fills one slot there. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Phione can fill a slot in Generation 4 binder (Sinnoh). I still need this card.
