Blacephalon SM221/248 · SM Black Star Promos

SM Black Star Promos is a set in the Sun & Moon series. It was released on February 3, 2017. The printed size is 248. This checklist is longer, at 251 cards. Blacephalon is SM221/248, in position 224 of 251 on this checklist. Before it is SM220 Phione, and after it is SM222 Mismagius. The listed rarity is Promo.

Blacephalon is a Basic Ultra Beast Psychic Pokémon with 110 HP. In the Pokédex this is Blacephalon (#806), generation 7 (Alola).

Shin Nagasawa illustrated this card. The same name is on 303 other cards in the catalog.

Blacephalon (#806) has 5 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 3 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2018 to 2019. The earliest other card is Blacephalon-GX 52/214 in Lost Thunder (2018). That card is named Blacephalon-GX, while this one is Blacephalon. That card lists 180 HP, and this one lists 110 HP. The rarity there is Rare Holo GX, and here it is Promo. 5ban Graphics illustrated that card, and Shin Nagasawa illustrated this one. 4 other cards of Blacephalon list a different HP.

The attack Fireworks Bomb lists no damage number. The cost is Psychic, Colorless. Put 4 damage counters on your opponent's Pokémon in any way you like. If your opponent has exactly 3 Prize cards remaining, put 12 damage counters on them instead. Weakness is Darkness ×2. Resistance is Fighting -20. Retreat cost is 2. The flavor text reads "It slithers toward people. Then, without warning, it triggers the explosion of its own head. It's apparently one kind of Ultra Beast."

I keep a set binder for SM Black Star Promos, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the SM Black Star Promos set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Blacephalon can fill a slot in Generation 7 binder (Alola). I still need this card.
