Whimsicott 6/202 · Sword & Shield

Whimsicott is Pokédex #547, generation 5 (Unova). Whimsicott is a Stage 1 Grass Pokémon with 100 HP. The card says it evolves from Cottonee. In this catalog that name is Cottonee (#546).

Whimsicott sits at 6/202 in Sword & Shield, position 6 of 216. Before it is 5 Cottonee, and after it is 7 Maractus. The set belongs to the Sword & Shield series. It was released on February 7, 2020. The printed size is 202. This checklist is longer, at 216 cards. The listed rarity is Rare.

The attack Cotton Ride lists no damage number. The cost is Colorless. Flip a coin. If heads, your opponent shuffles their Active Pokémon and all attached cards into their deck. Leaf Step is another attack lists 50 damage. The cost is Grass. Weakness is Fire ×2. Retreat cost is 1. The flavor text reads "It scatters cotton all over the place as a prank. If it gets wet, it'll become too heavy to move and have no choice but to answer for its mischief." The regulation mark is D.

Whimsicott (#547) has 22 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 14 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2011 to 2025. The earliest other card is Whimsicott 11/98 in Emerging Powers (2011). That card lists 80 HP, and this one lists 100 HP. The rarity there is Uncommon, and here it is Rare. sui illustrated that card, and kodama illustrated this one. 20 other cards of Whimsicott list a different HP.

The illustrator line reads kodama. I count 86 other cards in the catalog with that illustrator.

Sword & Shield set binder is where a full Sword & Shield set goes. This card fills one slot there. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Whimsicott can fill a slot in Generation 5 binder (Unova). I still need this card.
