Vespiquen 11/98 · Ancient Origins

Vespiquen is Pokédex #416, generation 4 (Sinnoh). Vespiquen is a Stage 1 Grass Pokémon with 90 HP. The card says it evolves from Combee. In this catalog that name is Combee (#415).

Vespiquen sits at 11/98 in Ancient Origins, position 11 of 101. Before it is 10 Vespiquen, and after it is 12 Virizion. The set belongs to the XY series. It was released on August 12, 2015. The printed size is 98. This checklist is longer, at 101 cards. The listed rarity is Rare.

The attack Bee Drain lists 20 damage. The cost is Grass. Heal from this Pokémon the same amount of damage you did to your opponent's Active Pokémon. Fury Swipes is another attack lists 30× damage. The cost is Colorless, Colorless. Flip 3 coins. This attack does 30 damage times the number of heads. Weakness is Fire ×2. Retreat cost is 1. θ Double is the ancient trait on this card. This Pokémon may have up to 2 Pokémon Tool cards attached to it. The flavor text reads "Its abdomen is a honeycomb for grubs. It raises its grubs on honey collected by Combee."

Vespiquen (#416) has 11 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 10 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2007 to 2023. The earliest other card is Vespiquen 39/130 in Diamond & Pearl (2007). That card lists 100 HP, and this one lists 90 HP. Both list the rarity Rare. Mitsuhiro Arita illustrated that card, and Ayaka Yoshida illustrated this one. Retreat cost there is 3, and here it is 1. 10 other cards of Vespiquen list a different HP.

The illustrator line reads Ayaka Yoshida. I count 128 other cards in the catalog with that illustrator.

Ancient Origins set binder is where a full Ancient Origins set goes. This card fills one slot there. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Vespiquen can fill a slot in Generation 4 binder (Sinnoh). Themed lists that include this exact card are Berries and fruit. I still need this card.
