Slowking 21/122 · BREAKpoint

BREAKpoint is a set in the XY series. It was released on February 3, 2016. The printed size is 122. This checklist is longer, at 126 cards. Slowking is 21/122, in position 21 of 126 on this checklist. Before it is 20 Slowbro, and after it is 22 Shellder. The listed rarity is Rare Holo.

Slowking is a Stage 1 Water Pokémon with 100 HP. In the Pokédex this is Slowking (#199), generation 2 (Johto). The card says it evolves from Slowpoke. In this catalog that name is Slowpoke (#079).

Aya Kusube illustrated this card. The same name is on 127 other cards in the catalog.

Slowking (#199) has 25 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 18 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2000 to 2025. The earliest other card is Slowking 14/111 in Neo Genesis (2000). That card lists 80 HP, and this one lists 100 HP. Both list the rarity Rare Holo. Ken Sugimori illustrated that card, and Aya Kusube illustrated this one. Retreat cost there is 3, and here it is 2. 24 other cards of Slowking list a different HP.

Royal Flash is listed as Ability. Once during your turn (before your attack), you may flip a coin. If heads, move an Energy from your opponent's Active Pokémon to 1 of his or her Benched Pokémon. The attack Psych Up lists 40 damage. The cost is Water, Colorless. During your next turn, this Pokémon's Psych Up attack does 40 more damage (before applying Weakness and Resistance). Weakness is Grass ×2. Retreat cost is 2. The flavor text reads "When its head was bitten, toxins entered Slowpoke's head and unlocked an extraordinary power."

I keep a set binder for BREAKpoint, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the BREAKpoint set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Slowking can fill a slot in Generation 2 binder (Johto). I still need this card.
