Lucario BW85/101 · BW Black Star Promos

BW Black Star Promos is a set in the Black & White series. It was released on March 1, 2011. The printed size is 101, and the checklist is the same length. Lucario is BW85/101, in position 85 of 101 on this checklist. Before it is BW84 Porygon-Z, and after it is BW86 Genesect. The listed rarity is Promo.

Lucario is a Stage 1 Fighting Pokémon with 100 HP. In the Pokédex this is Lucario (#448), generation 4 (Sinnoh). The card says it evolves from Riolu. In this catalog that name is Riolu (#447).

Masakazu Fukuda illustrated this card. The same name is on 471 other cards in the catalog.

Lucario (#448) has 59 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 39 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2007 to 2026. The earliest other card is Lucario 6/130 in Diamond & Pearl (2007). That card lists 90 HP, and this one lists 100 HP. The rarity there is Rare Holo, and here it is Promo. Ken Sugimori illustrated that card, and Masakazu Fukuda illustrated this one. Retreat cost there is 1, and here it is 2. 55 other cards of Lucario list a different HP.

Intuition is listed as Ability. When you play this Pokémon from your hand to evolve 1 of your Pokémon, you may draw 2 cards. The attack Fast Punch lists 60+ damage. The cost is Fighting, Colorless, Colorless. Flip a coin. If heads, this attack does 30 more damage. Weakness is Psychic ×2. Retreat cost is 2. The flavor text reads "By reading the auras of all things, it can tell how others are feeling from over half a mile away."

I keep a set binder for BW Black Star Promos, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the BW Black Star Promos set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Lucario can fill a slot in Generation 4 binder (Sinnoh). I still need this card.
