Swalot 11/100 · Crystal Guardians

Swalot is Pokédex #317, generation 3 (Hoenn). Swalot is a Stage 1 Grass Pokémon with 80 HP. The card says it evolves from Gulpin. In this catalog that name is Gulpin (#316).

Swalot sits at 11/100 in Crystal Guardians, position 11 of 100. Before it is 10 Sableye, and after it is 12 Tauros. The set belongs to the EX series. It was released on August 1, 2006. The printed size is 100, and the checklist is the same length. The listed rarity is Rare Holo.

The attack Pick and Choose lists no damage number. The cost is Colorless, Colorless. Choose either Burned or Poisoned, and either Asleep or Confused. The Defending Pokémon is now affected by both Special Conditions. Reactive Poison is another attack lists 50+ damage. The cost is Grass, Colorless, Colorless. Does 50 damage plus 20 more damage for each Special Condition affecting the Defending Pokémon. Weakness is Psychic ×2. Retreat cost is 1.

Swalot (#317) has 7 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 7 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2004 to 2024. The earliest other card is Swalot 50/101 in Hidden Legends (2004). Both list 80 HP. The rarity there is Uncommon, and here it is Rare Holo. Yuka Morii illustrated that card, and Mitsuhiro Arita illustrated this one. Retreat cost there is 2, and here it is 1. 5 other cards of Swalot list a different HP.

The illustrator line reads Mitsuhiro Arita. I count 721 other cards in the catalog with that illustrator.

Crystal Guardians set binder is where a full Crystal Guardians set goes. This card fills one slot there. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Swalot can fill a slot in Generation 3 binder (Hoenn). Themed lists that include this exact card are Mitsuhiro Arita cards. I still need this card.
