Swalot 9/99 · Arceus

Arceus is a set in the Platinum series. It was released on November 4, 2009. The printed size is 99. This checklist is longer, at 111 cards. Swalot is 9/99, in position 9 of 111 on this checklist. Before it is 8 Salamence, and after it is 10 Tangrowth. The listed rarity is Rare Holo.

Swalot is a Stage 1 Psychic Pokémon with 100 HP. The card lists level 40. In the Pokédex this is Swalot (#317), generation 3 (Hoenn). The card says it evolves from Gulpin. In this catalog that name is Gulpin (#316).

Aya Kusube illustrated this card. The same name is on 127 other cards in the catalog.

Swalot (#317) has 7 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 7 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2004 to 2024. The earliest other card is Swalot 50/101 in Hidden Legends (2004). That card lists 80 HP, and this one lists 100 HP. The rarity there is Uncommon, and here it is Rare Holo. Yuka Morii illustrated that card, and Aya Kusube illustrated this one. Retreat cost there is 2, and here it is 3. 7 other cards of Swalot list a different HP.

The attack Damage Roller lists no damage number. The cost is Psychic. Put damage counters on the Defending Pokémon until the Defending Pokémon has the same remaining HP as Swalot. (If the Defending Pokémon has the same or less remaining HP as Swalot, this attack does nothing.) Entangle Tackle is another attack lists 50+ damage. The cost is Psychic, Psychic, Colorless. You may do 50 damage plus 30 more damage. If you do, this attack does 30 damage to 1 of your Pokémon, and don't apply Weakness and Resistance to this damage. Weakness is Psychic +20. Retreat cost is 3. The flavor text reads "It swallows anything whole. It sweats toxic fluids from its follicles to douse foes."

I keep a set binder for Arceus, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the Arceus set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Swalot can fill a slot in Generation 3 binder (Hoenn). I still need this card.
