Xatu 52/75 · Neo Discovery

Neo Discovery is a set in the Neo series. It was released on June 1, 2001. The printed size is 75, and the checklist is the same length. Xatu is 52/75, in position 52 of 75 on this checklist. Before it is 51 Unown [U], and after it is 53 Caterpie. The listed rarity is Uncommon.

Xatu is a Stage 1 Psychic Pokémon with 70 HP. The card lists level 38. In the Pokédex this is Xatu (#178), generation 2 (Johto). The card says it evolves from Natu. In this catalog that name is Natu (#177).

Sumiyoshi Kizuki illustrated this card. The same name is on 212 other cards in the catalog.

Xatu (#178) has 19 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 17 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2000 to 2024. The earliest other card is Xatu 52/111 in Neo Genesis (2000). That card lists 80 HP, and this one lists 70 HP. Both list the rarity Uncommon. Ken Sugimori illustrated that card, and Sumiyoshi Kizuki illustrated this one. 16 other cards of Xatu list a different HP.

The attack Energy Cycle lists no damage number. The cost is Psychic. Flip a coin. If heads, choose 1 Energy card attached to the Defending Pokémon and 1 of your opponent's Benched Pokémon. Attach that Energy card to that Pokémon. Super Psy is another attack lists 50 damage. The cost is Psychic, Psychic, Colorless. Weakness is Psychic ×2. Resistance is Fighting -30. Retreat cost is 1. The flavor text reads "In South America, it is said that its right eye sees the future and its left eye views the past."

I keep a set binder for Neo Discovery, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the Neo Discovery set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Xatu can fill a slot in Generation 2 binder (Johto). I still need this card.
