Prinplup 55/236 · Cosmic Eclipse

Cosmic Eclipse is a set in the Sun & Moon series. It was released on November 1, 2019. The printed size is 236. This checklist is longer, at 272 cards. Prinplup is 55/236, in position 55 of 272 on this checklist. Before it is 54 Piplup, and after it is 56 Empoleon. The listed rarity is Uncommon.

Prinplup is a Stage 1 Water Pokémon with 80 HP. In the Pokédex this is Prinplup (#394), generation 4 (Sinnoh). The card says it evolves from Piplup. In this catalog that name is Piplup (#393). The card lists Empoleon, Empoleon (#395) under evolves to.

Hasuno illustrated this card. The same name is on 74 other cards in the catalog.

Prinplup (#394) has 9 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 9 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2007 to 2025. The earliest other card is Prinplup 58/130 in Diamond & Pearl (2007). Both list 80 HP. Both list the rarity Uncommon. Ken Sugimori illustrated that card, and Hasuno illustrated this one. Retreat cost there is 1, and here it is 2. 4 other cards of Prinplup list a different HP.

The attack Water Drip lists 20 damage. The cost is Water. Direct Dive is another attack lists no damage number. The cost is Water, Water, Water. Discard all Energy from this Pokémon. This attack does 100 damage to 1 of your opponent's Benched Pokémon. (Don't apply Weakness and Resistance for Benched Pokémon.) Weakness is Lightning ×2. Retreat cost is 2. The flavor text reads "It lives alone, away from others. Apparently, every one of them believes it is the most important."

I keep a set binder for Cosmic Eclipse, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the Cosmic Eclipse set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Prinplup can fill a slot in Generation 4 binder (Sinnoh). I still need this card.
