Prinplup 33/156 · Ultra Prism

Prinplup is a Stage 1 Water Pokémon with 90 HP. In the Pokédex this is Prinplup (#394), generation 4 (Sinnoh). The card says it evolves from Piplup. In this catalog that name is Piplup (#393). The card lists Empoleon, Empoleon (#395) under evolves to.

Mizue illustrated this card. The same name is on 184 other cards in the catalog.

Prinplup (#394) has 9 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 9 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2007 to 2025. The earliest other card is Prinplup 58/130 in Diamond & Pearl (2007). That card lists 80 HP, and this one lists 90 HP. Both list the rarity Uncommon. Ken Sugimori illustrated that card, and Mizue illustrated this one. Retreat cost there is 1, and here it is 2. 7 other cards of Prinplup list a different HP.

The attack Bubble Beam lists 20 damage. The cost is Water. Flip a coin. If heads, your opponent's Active Pokémon is now Paralyzed. Wave Splash is another attack lists 40 damage. The cost is Water, Colorless. Weakness is Lightning ×2. Retreat cost is 2. The flavor text reads "It lives a solitary life. Its wings deliver wicked blows that can snap even the thickest of trees."

I keep a set binder for Ultra Prism, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the Ultra Prism set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Prinplup can fill a slot in Generation 4 binder (Sinnoh). I still need this card.
