Banette 65/168 · Celestial Storm

Banette is Pokédex #354, generation 3 (Hoenn). Banette is a Stage 1 Psychic Pokémon with 90 HP. The card says it evolves from Shuppet. In this catalog that name is Shuppet (#353).

Banette sits at 65/168 in Celestial Storm, position 66 of 187. Before it is 64 Shuppet, and after it is 66 Banette-GX. The set belongs to the Sun & Moon series. It was released on August 3, 2018. The printed size is 168. This checklist is longer, at 187 cards. The listed rarity is Rare.

Red Eyes is listed as Ability. When you play this Pokémon from your hand to evolve 1 of your Pokémon during your turn, you may put a Basic Pokémon from your opponent's discard pile onto their Bench. The attack Enemy Show lists no damage number. The cost is Psychic, Colorless. For each of your opponent's Pokémon in play, put 1 damage counter on your opponent's Pokémon in any way you like. Weakness is Darkness ×2. Resistance is Fighting -20. Retreat cost is 1. The flavor text reads "Strong feelings of hatred turned a puppet into a Pokémon. If it opens its mouth, its cursed energy escapes."

Banette (#354) has 23 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 18 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2004 to 2026. The earliest other card is Banette 1/101 in Hidden Legends (2004). That card lists 70 HP, and this one lists 90 HP. The rarity there is Rare Holo, and here it is Rare. Midori Harada illustrated that card, and Eri Yamaki illustrated this one. 16 other cards of Banette list a different HP.

The illustrator line reads Eri Yamaki. I count 39 other cards in the catalog with that illustrator.

Celestial Storm set binder is where a full Celestial Storm set goes. This card fills one slot there. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Banette can fill a slot in Generation 3 binder (Hoenn). I still need this card.
