Xatu 59/102 · Scarlet & Violet Black Star Promos

Scarlet & Violet Black Star Promos is a set in the Scarlet & Violet series. It was released on January 1, 2023. The printed size is 102. This checklist is longer, at 165 cards. Xatu is 59/102, in position 59 of 165 on this checklist. Before it is 58 Iron Bundle, and after it is 60 Aegislash. The listed rarity is Promo.

Xatu is a Stage 1 Psychic Pokémon with 100 HP. In the Pokédex this is Xatu (#178), generation 2 (Johto). The card says it evolves from Natu. In this catalog that name is Natu (#177).

GOSSAN illustrated this card. The same name is on 57 other cards in the catalog.

Xatu (#178) has 19 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 17 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2000 to 2024. The earliest other card is Xatu 52/111 in Neo Genesis (2000). That card lists 80 HP, and this one lists 100 HP. The rarity there is Uncommon, and here it is Promo. Ken Sugimori illustrated that card, and GOSSAN illustrated this one. 15 other cards of Xatu list a different HP.

Clairvoyant Sense is listed as Ability. Once during your turn, you may attach a Basic Psychic Energy card from your hand to 1 of your Benched Pokémon. If you attached Energy to a Pokémon in this way, draw 2 cards. The attack Super Psy Bolt lists 80 damage. The cost is Psychic, Colorless, Colorless. Weakness is Darkness ×2. Resistance is Fighting -30. Retreat cost is 1. The flavor text reads "This odd Pokémon can see both the past and the future. It eyes the sun's movement all day." The regulation mark is G.

I keep a set binder for Scarlet & Violet Black Star Promos, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the Scarlet & Violet Black Star Promos set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Xatu can fill a slot in Generation 2 binder (Johto). I still need this card.
