Banette 63/198 · Chilling Reign

Banette is Pokédex #354, generation 3 (Hoenn). Banette is a Stage 1 Single Strike Psychic Pokémon with 80 HP. The card says it evolves from Shuppet. In this catalog that name is Shuppet (#353).

Banette sits at 63/198 in Chilling Reign, position 63 of 233. Before it is 62 Shuppet, and after it is 64 Cresselia. The set belongs to the Sword & Shield series. It was released on June 18, 2021. The printed size is 198. This checklist is longer, at 233 cards. The listed rarity is Rare.

The attack Resolute Spite lists 20× damage. The cost is Psychic. Put up to 7 damage counters on this Pokémon. This attack does 20 damage for each damage counter you placed in this way. Eerie Light is another attack lists 50 damage. The cost is Psychic, Colorless. Your opponent's Active Pokémon is now Confused. Weakness is Darkness ×2. Resistance is Fighting -30. Retreat cost is 1. The flavor text reads "Resentment at being cast off made it spring into being. Some say that treating it well will satisfy it, and it will once more become a stuffed toy." The regulation mark is E.

Banette (#354) has 23 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 17 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2004 to 2026. The earliest other card is Banette 1/101 in Hidden Legends (2004). That card lists 70 HP, and this one lists 80 HP. The rarity there is Rare Holo, and here it is Rare. Midori Harada illustrated that card, and Megumi Higuchi illustrated this one. 18 other cards of Banette list a different HP.

The illustrator line reads Megumi Higuchi. I count 17 other cards in the catalog with that illustrator.

Chilling Reign set binder is where a full Chilling Reign set goes. This card fills one slot there. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Banette can fill a slot in Generation 3 binder (Hoenn). I still need this card.
