Torterra 3/135 · Plasma Storm

Torterra is Pokédex #389, generation 4 (Sinnoh). Torterra is a Stage 2 Team Plasma Grass Pokémon with 150 HP. The card says it evolves from Grotle. In this catalog that name is Grotle (#388).

Torterra sits at 3/135 in Plasma Storm, position 3 of 138. Before it is 2 Grotle, and after it is 4 Combee. The set belongs to the Black & White series. It was released on February 6, 2013. The printed size is 135. This checklist is longer, at 138 cards. The listed rarity is Rare.

The attack Guard Press lists 60 damage. The cost is Grass, Colorless, Colorless. During your opponent's next turn, any damage to this Pokémon by attacks is reduced by 20 (after applying Weakness and Resistance). Rumble Stomp is another attack lists 80+ damage. The cost is Grass, Colorless, Colorless, Colorless. Flip a coin until you get tails. This attack does 20 more damage for each heads. Weakness is Fire ×2. Resistance is Water -20. Retreat cost is 4. The flavor text reads "Some Pokémon are born on a Torterra's back and spend their entire life there."

Torterra (#389) has 12 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 10 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2007 to 2024. The earliest other card is Torterra 17/130 in Diamond & Pearl (2007). That card lists 140 HP, and this one lists 150 HP. The rarity there is Rare Holo, and here it is Rare. Masahiko Ishii illustrated that card, and 5ban Graphics illustrated this one. 12 other cards of Torterra list a different HP.

The illustrator line reads 5ban Graphics. I count 1,629 other cards in the catalog with that illustrator.

Plasma Storm set binder is where a full Plasma Storm set goes. This card fills one slot there. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Torterra can fill a slot in Generation 4 binder (Sinnoh). I still need this card.
