Torterra 9/156 · Ultra Prism

Torterra is Pokédex #389, generation 4 (Sinnoh). Torterra is a Stage 2 Grass Pokémon with 180 HP. The card says it evolves from Grotle. In this catalog that name is Grotle (#388).

Torterra sits at 9/156 in Ultra Prism, position 9 of 178. Before it is 8 Grotle, and after it is 10 Cherubi. The set belongs to the Sun & Moon series. It was released on February 2, 2018. The printed size is 156. This checklist is longer, at 178 cards. The listed rarity is Rare Holo.

The attack Giga Drain lists 50 damage. The cost is Grass, Grass, Colorless. Heal from this Pokémon the same amount of damage you did to your opponent's Active Pokémon. Earthquake is another attack lists 180 damage. The cost is Grass, Grass, Grass, Colorless. This attack does 20 damage to each of your Benched Pokémon. (Don't apply Weakness and Resistance for Benched Pokémon.) Weakness is Fire ×2. Retreat cost is 4. The flavor text reads "Small Pokémon occasionally gather on its unmoving back to begin building their nests."

Torterra (#389) has 12 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 10 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2007 to 2024. The earliest other card is Torterra 17/130 in Diamond & Pearl (2007). That card lists 140 HP, and this one lists 180 HP. Both list the rarity Rare Holo. Masahiko Ishii illustrated that card, and kawayoo illustrated this one. 11 other cards of Torterra list a different HP.

The illustrator line reads kawayoo. I count 209 other cards in the catalog with that illustrator.

Ultra Prism set binder is where a full Ultra Prism set goes. This card fills one slot there. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Torterra can fill a slot in Generation 4 binder (Sinnoh). I still need this card.
