Darkrai ◇ 77/156 · Ultra Prism

Ultra Prism is a set in the Sun & Moon series. It was released on February 2, 2018. The printed size is 156. This checklist is longer, at 178 cards. Darkrai ◇ is 77/156, in position 77 of 178 on this checklist. Before it is 76 Skuntank, and after it is 78 Alolan Diglett. The listed rarity is Rare Prism Star.

Darkrai ◇ is a Basic Prism Star Darkness Pokémon with 160 HP. In the Pokédex this is Darkrai (#491), generation 4 (Sinnoh).

Naoki Saito illustrated this card. The same name is on 270 other cards in the catalog.

Darkrai (#491) has 40 other cards in the catalog. Those other cards are in 22 sets. The other printings with a release date run from 2007 to 2026. The earliest other card is Darkrai LV.X DP19/56 in DP Black Star Promos (2007). That card is named Darkrai LV.X, while this one is Darkrai ◇. That card lists 100 HP, and this one lists 160 HP. The rarity there is Promo, and here it is Rare Prism Star. Shizurow illustrated that card, and Naoki Saito illustrated this one. Retreat cost there is 1, and here it is 2. 40 other cards of Darkrai list a different HP.

Nightmare Star is listed as Ability. When you play this Pokémon from your hand onto your Bench during your turn, you may attach 2 Darkness Energy cards from your hand to it. The attack Abyssal Sleep lists 120 damage. The cost is Darkness, Darkness, Darkness, Darkness. Your opponent's Active Pokémon is now Asleep. Your opponent flips 2 coins instead of 1 between turns. If either of them is tails, that Pokémon is still Asleep. Weakness is Fighting ×2. Resistance is Psychic -20. Retreat cost is 2. The card text says: ◇ (Prism Star) Rule: You can't have more than 1 ◇ card with the same name in your deck. If a ◇ card would go to the discard pile, put it in the Lost Zone instead. The flavor text reads "It can lull people to sleep and make them dream. It is active during nights of the new moon."

I keep a set binder for Ultra Prism, meant to hold every card of that set. This card is one slot in the Ultra Prism set binder. A generation binder holds one card of each species. Darkrai can fill a slot in Generation 4 binder (Sinnoh). Themed lists that include this exact card are Nap time and Prism Star and Star cards. I still need this card.
